Career Plan
My carreer plan is to become a drug developer or pharmacologist. This entails obtaining my B.S. in Chemistry, and then pursing a phD in chemistry. Afterwards I will either accept a posiiton as a post doc or go into industry. I am currently considering medicinal chemistry, organic synthsis, and natural products path in chemistry, I chose this career because I am passionate about the chemsitry and medicine. Obatining sucha degree will enable me to conduct reasearch and formulate drugs in the labatory. My dream career is to be research chemist for MERK Pharmacedical Co. or another research institution.

I am considering this profession because it is what I wanted to become. I've have always been interested in the medical field, but being a doctor wasn't suited for me. It seemed a becoming a pharmacist was for me. Pharmacist explain to patients the drugs doctors' have prescribed; giving instructions so the medications can be used safely and effectively. I believe that beyond the doctors role is the pharmacist role to answer questions regarding the prescription medication. Pharmacist also help customers with choosing over-the-counter drugs and give advice concerning health. Pharmacists are required to have a PharmD, or doctorate of Pharmacy degree. However, after my first year at the University of Florida I had an opportunity to start undergrad research at the United States Department of Agriculture in the Agriculture Research Unit. I fell in love with research and officially decided to not go the prepharm path anymore. I am currently pursuing my B.S. in Chemistry at the University of Florida and intend on obtaining my doctorates in Chemistry. My career goal is to be a drug developer/pharmacologist. I am also considering a more natural products/organic synthesis path in chemical ecology.
